Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary Launches Statewide ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ Campaign; Awareness Chariots Flagged Off for All 38 Districts

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today launched the statewide ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ (Check-up and Treatment–Healthcare at Your Doorstep) campaign at Urja Auditorium, Rajvanshi Nagar, Patna. On the occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off awareness chariots for all 38 districts of the state. The campaign will be conducted from September 2 to November 30, 2026. The Chief Minister directed District Magistrates to closely monitor the campaign to ensure that its objectives are fully achieved.
The Chief Minister said the primary objective of the campaign is to ensure early detection of diseases and timely treatment, rather than waiting for diseases to become serious. He emphasized that timely screening can help identify diseases at an early stage and enable appropriate and effective treatment.
Screening of Citizens Above 30 Years of Age
Under the campaign, citizens above 30 years of age will be screened. Healthcare workers will visit households to conduct preliminary health check-ups and provide counselling. Depending on the need, patients will be provided treatment facilities ranging from Ayushman Arogya Mandir to district hospitals.
Screening will cover diabetes, hypertension, common cancers, heart diseases, respiratory and lung-related diseases, and fatty liver.
Target to Screen 6 Crore People and Create Digital Health Records
The Chief Minister said that an anaemia screening campaign is also underway in the state, with a target of screening one crore people. Alongside this, the government has set a target of screening 6 crore people across Bihar and preparing their health records.
These health records will be securely maintained in digital form, enabling their effective use during treatment whenever required.
Surgery Services Expanded in District Hospitals
The Chief Minister said that healthcare services in the state are being continuously strengthened. Referrals from hospitals have declined, while the number of surgeries performed at district hospitals has increased.
In June, 2,428 operations were performed, while the number has now increased to more than 8,000. The range of surgeries available at district and sub-divisional hospitals has also been expanded from 36 to 45 types of procedures, enabling patients to receive better treatment closer to home.
‘Mission Kayakalp’ to Strengthen Primary Healthcare
The Chief Minister announced that ‘Mission Kayakalp’ will be introduced to further strengthen primary-level healthcare services. Under the initiative, facilities at PHCs, APHCs and sub-centres will be improved and upgraded so that people can access quality healthcare services closer to their homes.
He said the government’s objective is to ensure timely screening, timely treatment and better healthcare facilities for the people of Bihar. He appealed to citizens to actively participate in the ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ campaign and ensure health screening for family members above 30 years of age.
Focus on Strengthening Healthcare Human Resources
The Chief Minister said that human resources in the healthcare sector are also being strengthened. Arrangements will be made to provide foreign language training to students in nursing and paramedical colleges, enabling them to receive better training and access employment opportunities both within India and abroad.
During the programme, Health Secretary Kumar Ravi welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a green sapling. A short film based on the ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ campaign was also screened.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Health Minister Nishant Kumar, Health Department Secretary Kumar Ravi and other senior officials were present on the occasion. MPs, MLAs, Legislative Council members, public representatives, District Magistrates, doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and other dignitaries also participated through video conferencing.
Chief Minister’s Appeal
The Chief Minister urged the people of Bihar to actively participate in the campaign and get health screenings done on time.
“Timely screening helps identify diseases early and makes proper and effective treatment possible. A healthy family is the foundation of a prosperous Bihar.”
