ICG Seizes Drugs Worth ₹3,000 Crore, Busts International Smuggling Network

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG), in a joint operation with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics in the Arabian Sea, west of Lakshadweep, on September 25, 2026. Drugs worth more than ₹3,000 crore were seized during the operation.

Approximately 526 kg of high-quality heroin and methamphetamine were recovered, and five Pakistani nationals were apprehended.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the ICG conducted precise maritime and aerial surveillance and maintained continuous tracking of a suspicious Iranian vessel. The vessel was subsequently intercepted. The seized boat, its crew members and the confiscated narcotics were taken to Mumbai under tight security for further investigation.
The successful operation marks a significant contribution to the national vision of a “Drug-Free India” (Nasha Mukt Bharat). The action reflects the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to combating maritime drug trafficking and maintaining zero tolerance towards illegal activities in Indian maritime zones.
