Lucknow, October 16: NDA leaders have launched a sharp counterattack against Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav over his remarks on sugarcane farmers, PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) politics and the Election Commission. Union Minister and BJP Uttar Pradesh president Pankaj Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Dayashankar Singh, and Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad criticised the SP chief on various issues.
Pankaj Chaudhary said the entire state was aware of the Samajwadi Party’s alleged anti-farmer mindset. Dayashankar Singh claimed that Akhilesh Yadav was worried about defeat in the 2027 Assembly elections and was therefore targeting the Election Commission in advance. Sanjay Nishad, meanwhile, alleged that backward classes and Dalits were not given due respect within the Samajwadi Party.
‘Sugarcane Farmers Had to Protest for Payments Under SP Rule’
BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had demonstrated his commitment to farmers through concrete action. He stated that the Yogi government had increased sugarcane prices several times, whereas farmers were offered only hollow promises during the Samajwadi Party government.
Cabinet Minister Dayashankar Singh also alleged that sugarcane farmers faced considerable difficulties during the SP regime and had to stage protests to secure their payments. He claimed that sugarcane farmers were now receiving payments on time.
Singh further alleged that the Samajwadi Party had insulted Jats in western Uttar Pradesh and mistreated Hindus. He said the party would face the consequences in the 2027 Assembly elections. Referring to the Muzaffarnagar riots during the SP government’s tenure, he claimed that the incident remained deeply etched in the public memory of Sanatan Dharma followers.
He asserted that the Samajwadi Party would face a decisive electoral setback in western Uttar Pradesh and across the state.
‘Backward Classes and Dalits Have No Respect in SP’
Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad said Samajwadi Party leaders were now speaking about farmers, but alleged that pending payments from the previous SP government had also been cleared under the present government.
Taking a swipe at Akhilesh Yadav, Nishad remarked that the more the SP chief spoke about farmers, the more politically vulnerable he would become.
Nishad also alleged that backward classes and Dalits, who had previously supported the Samajwadi Party, were not accorded adequate respect by its leadership. He claimed that the party prioritised a particular caste and religion, leading to the alienation of backward communities and Dalits.
He added that the Bharatiya Janata Party followed the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ (Together with All, Development for All, Trust of All).
